[ he's right, clarisse definitely wouldn't argue about beating the shit out of hannibal, because she'd still really like to do that. preferably with a mace of some kind. ]
So we build ourselves a dungeon and throw him in there while we figure out how to nail him. [ they could also literally nail him if they wanted. she's sure the closet would give them nail guns. but ... that still isn't really going to solve anything aside from the violent urges they are no doubt both having right now.
she hesitates as something else occurs to her, hates herself a little for even wanting to suggest it. ] Unless we bait him into something. [ but how do you bait a meticulous sociopath? ]
Bait him-- yeah, but how? I mean, what gets his jollies going really? Why did he gank us? [ of all the people, why them? maybe to someone else it'd be obvious, but dean- he hadn't done anything... or at least nothing hannibal should really know about.
unless abigail opened her damn mouth... ]
Something tells me he's not one to come after either of another time. Why bother when there are new, shiny people to kill.
[ funny you should say that, dean, considering clarisse is pretty sure hannibal would murder her all over again if he had the chance. she hasn't given him that chance since her "therapy" session. ]
I don't know. But we've all gotta have something in common.
[ they enjoy killing things? that doesn't really make sense. he clearly enjoys killing things, too, just in a completely fucked up, serial killer kind of way. she and dean really only kill things that want to kill them, right? monsters are monsters; it's not like they're going around murdering people. besides, she's only seen the silence of the lambs; it doesn't really go into hannibal's psychology. ]
Did you ever actually talk to him before he offed you? [ she... definitely had. probably wasn't smart taunting the cannibal, but clarisse isn't always smart. ]
No, not aside from the briefest conversation, the first time he showed. Pretty sure we ended that one on decent terms. [ where dean had kept an eye on him more than anything, while hannibal had been bombed with questions about being an infamous cannibal. that conversation should have kept him safe, at least.
........but. ]
I did... kinda break into his office one time. He wasn't there 'course, but Abigail caught me. [ which had been a dumb mistake. ]
[ dean. dean. goddammit. clarisse honestly doesn't even know what to say to that for a moment, completely floored by how utterly stupid breaking into hannibal's office is. sure, she stepped foot into the lion's den, too, but she hadn't broken in. ]
You broke into his office. [ it's not a question, it's more just her repeating to herself in an attempt to process that he actually did the thing. jesus, no wonder he got offed. but, okay, more importantly: ] Did you find anything? [ of course, if he did find anything, it's probably been destroyed now. she figures she should ask anyway. ]
[ at least dean has the decency to look kinda embarrassed by the whole thing. not his finest moment as a hunter-- or just in general. but it happens. at least it'd been him in the office and not sam. ]
No, nothing useful. Didn't really have a whole lot of time to look either before I got busted.
[ ugh, abigail. such a pain in the ass. ]
But I mean murderin' someone over that-- s'a little extreme.
[ clarisse scoffs, staring dean down hard. has he forgotten who they're dealing with here? ]
Yeah, and displaying corpses in horrific and gruesome ways — and then eating them — is a little extreme, too. This is Hannibal Lecter, Dean. [ her hands motion heatedly while she talks, because she can't just stand still. ] How much of a motive does he really need? He's a fucking psychopath!
[ and, yeah, maybe that last part was a little loud, but the anger that's been boiling up inside her for months is finally at a tipping point. she's needed to vent, really vent, but no one else has really understood until now. ] Did you see what he did to me? Because I saw what he did to you and I'm pretty damn sure you didn't deserve it. [ regardless of what dean has done here, regardless of whatever he's done back home, he didn't deserve that. ] He humiliated me, set my own piglets on me. Did I fucking deserve that? I can barely even look at one without wanting to puke now. And don't even get me fucking started on the nightmares —
[ but she cuts herself off there, tries to regain her composure, tries to stop moving even though she's pretty sure she's been pacing again. ] I'm just saying — maybe we have to think outside the box with this guy. [ she hesitates, tries to remember where she was going with this. ] I think we both offended him somehow. You snooping around, and me — well, let's just say I might have poked the sleeping dragon a little too hard. Maybe that's enough.
