I've noticed that every conversation with Dean and John Winchester, Dean says dad in almost every reply. I wasn't sure if you were aware and it was intentional or not. But anon just thought to ask.
i was basing it off dean saying sam's (or cas', when talking to him) name a lot when talking to his brother, and him substituting it with words like man or dude. but since this is his father and someone he has high respect for, i figure he wouldn't call him by his first name, never mind man or dude, so dad would be the way to go. i also know he calls john sir in canon at times but due to being from a much, much latter canon point i figure he's somewhat moved on from that. also, in canon, they always refer to their parents as mom and dad, never as john and mary.
but i'll look into it more from now on, see if i'm overdoing it or not. :3
